Apple has revealed it plans to outfit its vehicle with a special sunroof that will not require opening to let sunlight in, but it could alter its transparency in similar.

In the Patent discovered through Motor Trend, Apple has envisioned an opacity glass sunroof that can be made transparent in varying degrees, and be completely transparent using precise controls. “Another feature of these disclosed designs is a car that has an opening and a variable translucence zone that is defined by the window. The area of variable translucence is adjustable to allow the desired amount of light to pass through the window.” says the patent in reference to the distinctive sunroof.

This sunroof is a good option in situations where you need some sunshine, like in winter, but you do not want the cold breezes within. But, in summer it is likely that the Apple Car will come with the option of having a sunroof. The patent has revealed the sunroof will be open as a sequence of side windows, in contrast the fixed one on vehicles with similar technology. A sunroof that can be opened will let drivers breathe fresh air; however there are other uses also.

It is also possible that the entire control of the sunroof is accessible through Car Play as well as via Siri. However, the patent doesn’t mention that in any detail. In any case, the patent is among the tangible evidences that Apple is indeed making progress on the Apple Car and that it is worth the waiting. Previous rumors could be true in the light of the information Apple has announced to date.
