Google’s rumored smartwatch could finally be released in May. According to a leak by Jon Proesser this May, Google may release the Pixel Watch in May. Although the rumored Google watch has been the subject of many leaks and renders, there hasn’t been any confirmation from the company. An earlier rumor suggested that Google would unveil the Pixel Watch at Google IO 2021. But, it didn’t go as planned. Google also announced other rumored products such as the Pixel 6, Pixel 5a, but not the Pixel Watch.
Jon Prosser, a noted tipster who has made most of his predictions regarding product launches correct, stated in a tweet that the Google Pixel Watch might finally be available on May 26. “Pixel Watch. It has been over a year since it was leaked. I heard that Google plans to launch it on Thursday, May 26, 2016. This is the first time that we have seen a date on the device. He said that Google is well-known for pushing back dates. But if they do, then we’ll know.” This date also aligns with Google’s I/O conference.
Prosser speculated earlier that the watch might be available with the Pixel 6, but then he revealed that the launch was delayed. Prosser also uploaded the entire renders of the purported Pixel Watch to YouTube. Previous reports revealed that the Google Pixel Watch was called “Rohan”, an Indian surname.
According to renders and leaks, the Pixel Watch is the company’s premium watch offering. 3D renderings show that the smartwatch could have a slimmer form factor and a curved display wrapped around a metal frame. The report did not specify the function of the button. However, it was visible on the right-hand side of the dial. The watch’s specifications are unknown, but renders show that a few trackers including Heart rate monitoring and Maps integration were visible on the watch’s home screen.
Google had sent out a survey to find out what features people would like to see in Wear OS. The features included SPO2 (oxygenation tracking), sleep analysis, heartbeat alarms, recovery time monitoring and stress tracking. Rep detection and calorie tracking were also included. The Pixel Watch may include some of the above-mentioned features and trackers.
